What to Expect

Day 1 Things to do on Moreton Island

You’ll be transported to board the ferry where you will be whisked-off for a wonderful sightseeing ferry transfer to Moreton Island across Moreton Bay Marine Park. The journey across the calm and clear waters provides you with an opportunity to spy marine life such as turtles, whales and humpbacks (during whale migration season).

Upon arrival on the sandy and sundrenched island paradise, you will begin your 4WD eco-tour travelling along the west coast of the island, chauffeured to the desert for some adrenaline pounding sand tobogganing – small and large sand dunes abound as far as the eye can see, suitable for all ages. Onwards to the eastern surf beach, and then Blue Lagoon for a swim or snorkel, with lunch served up overlooking the beach.

More Moreton Island attractions await after lunch. Your guide will take you to Aboriginal midden sites and ancient fish trap sites, to Cape Moreton Lighthouse for a walk up to the viewing platform from which you can look out across the bay spotting marine life, to White Patch, Honeymoon Bay and the Champagne Pools for a wander and a swim.

After your day’s activities wrap up, you’ll be driven to the Blue Lagoon campsite to settle in for the evening. Dinner will be prepared for the tour group, after which you can kick back by the campfire roasting marshmallows, or go for a stargazing stroll by the freshwater lake, or even an evening splash.

Camping facilities include: 1, 2, 3 & 4 person tents, camping mattress, sleeping bags, an eco-campfire, undercover kitchen, tables & chairs, modern toilets & showers, and more.

Day 2

Dig into a delicious tropical breakfast overlooking the beach and enjoy free time to go for a walk, take a swim in the lagoon, or hike to nearby Lake Honeyeater.

After you’ve enjoyed a carefree morning, the day’s sunkissed tour activities begin with a hike up Mount Tempest, the tallest coastal sand dune on Earth.

Please Note: If you’d rather spend more time lazing at the Blue Lagoon you can opt to skip the Mount Tempest trek.

After enjoying a tasty lunch, you’ll head off for more things to do on Moreton Island along the west coast where you can check out Moreton Island attractions – the Bulwer Shipwrecks or the Tangalooma Shipwrecks, enjoy a snorkel or swim at the wrecks site, or stay dry spotting marine life from the shore before boarding the ferry for your return trip to Brisbane, arriving back at about 6pm.
